Saturday 5 September 2015 marked the first year of attendance for the Kingscliff Beach Hotel at the Sample Food Festival in the village of Bangalow in northern New South Wales. This iconic annual festival celebrates the creativity of local food. Stalls are by invitation only. We submitted both a $5 plate (wild mushroom arancini balls with black garlic aioli, rocket and radish) and a $10 plate (Makers Mark 46 braised short rib with fennel, sweet potato and a sticky Kentucky bourbon sauce), and were delighted when we were declared the winners in the $10 plate category.
